I had underestimated the rice. When they brought it over, it looked plain and bland. The rice was moist and flavoursome. The chicken was not dry, and the chips were crispy. The cod dish was great as well. Best to make a booking. I arrived at 5:30pm on Sunday and every table had a reserved sign on it. This was my first visit, definitely won't be my last.

Bread was soft, chips were freshly fried, chicken was great, juicy and delicious. The prawns were good but not amazing. The octopus was way too salty, and it got even saltier the more I ate- salty and bitter. Although the steamed potatoes on the side helped balance it a bit, it was still hard to eat. So painful! The skewer was also extremely salty, and even at medium rare, it was a bit tough to chew. The portions were large and the price was reasonable, but these two dishes really weren’t tasty. I’d suggest the restaurant use less salt- it’s not good for health. Service was very good tho.

A stalwart of the Petersham restaurant strip that continues to deliver wholesome Portuguese food. Been here a few times and tried the squid, steak, chicken and bacalau dishes all of which have been good. The garlic prawns come out sizzling and have a nice garlic flavour. They also have potatoes in multiple renditions so you should try the round chips for something different to the usual chips. Service is warm, friendly and efficient.

Been coming here for years but this is first time to review. I have always taken things for granted. Always consistent and friendly. It’s loud, just like Portugal. Today I had a seafood dish that had a sauce - very thin - but it was very tasty. Not going to say the dish. I want it all for myself next time. It was an entree… More

Good food (though a bit salty and the grilled chicken was a little tough). Service was friendly, but despite having a reservation and empty tables available, I still had to wait 15–20 minutes before being seated — only to be placed at one of those empty tables. Disappointing, but I would still come back again.

This place is classic in Sydney for a reason, because the food is amazing.
First time at Silvas, and I was blown away. The food and the service was great.
We started with prawns and octopus. Both full of flavour, garlic and other things. So good and delicious.
My wife ordered the spachcock and I got the porco alantejano. Both amazing, the spachcock was tender, full of flavour and juicy.
The pork was amazing with good chilly and the fermented veggies making a huge balance in the meal.
Highly recommend, the only issue is the place has no good acoustic, so it can get pretty loud there.

Affordable family own restaurant. Garlic prawn was really good, the rest we ordered whole chicken with chips and veg rice, skewer, garden salad, octopus and grilled fish for 8 people. Total cost $240. Everything comes in good portions, just the chicken was a bit dry and the grilled fish was a bit too salty in my opinion. It could be just right for others. Staff was very accommodated. Maybe we visit on a Saturday night so it was pretty loud/noisy in a small dining area. We came for family gathering but barely hear others or have to yell when talking. Overall it’s a 3.5 stars experience. (Google can’t do .5 star)

Perhaps the best Portuguese restaurant in Petersham? Lunch on a Saturday was perfect - started with chargrilled octopus which had lots of flavour and was tender. Also had the potato salad to start. Next was the house special garlic prawns which was delicious especially dipped with bread. For mains we had the pasta with pippis. Great meal with friendly service and family atmosphere. Make a booking as restaurant is busy.

We had a fantastic time celebrating a friend’s birthday here! The food was delicious, with generous portions that left everyone satisfied. It was a bit noisy, so it might not be ideal for a romantic night out, but if you're after authentic Portuguese flavours in the heart of Petersham, this place is a great choice. More
